Theme slam: The inescapable decision

This is the text from the ‘Book Trailer’ for DEAD or ALIVE – The inescapable decision.

What do you do? When you’ve wasted your chances, when fear grips your heart and the enemy advances. Anxiety and shame are ahead in the game, and your stupid choices, have ruined everything.

What do you do? When the world seems against you. When condemnation  pressures to crush, consumed in the everyday rush. When shame stifles your cry, making you wonder why, oh God, why? No matter how hard I try, I’m sinking deep, deep under.

What do you do? When your love goes unnoticed and your heart yearns for approving voices. Your mind worried and threatening, leaving you sad and regretting, receptive to the devils caresses. Where do you find peace in this setting? What can you do?

Do you light your fuse in the momentary bliss of substance abuse? In the paranoid perception of cannabis use? Do you seek peace in virtual realities? Protectively guarding your shame, out of fear of facing the pain? Attempting to numb the negative thoughts running riot inside your brain?

What do you do? When pornography grips you. Promising ease if only for a day. Over and over you hear yourself say, tomorrow you’ll stop looking but tomorrow never comes, that’s for sure. The knife of accusation cuts to the core.

What do you do? When the enemy accuses and through others abuses. Makes you believe the lies, causing depression to rise. Do you wish you could turn off the light? Or will you choose to put up a fight!

You may have caused damage or done stupid things. Welcome to the club cos all of us sin. The inevitable consequence of prideful ignorance, manifests itself in your guilty conscience.

You can admit the things you’ve done wrong, bring into the light the harmful way that you’ve gone. Yes you can fight and choose to be strong. In Christ, who’s been with you all along. That’s what you can do!

He died on the cross and made all things new. Jesus took your shame and knew what to do. He clothes you in righteousness, strength and brings peace. He gives you God’s armour, your shackles release.

He trains you to storm the enemy fortresses. The helmet of salvation protects your thought processes. The breastplate of righteousness keeps judgement at bay and the belt of truth steadies your sway.

The shoes that bring peace can cause you to dance, with the shield of faith strengthening your stance. Fighting back fiery darts of the enemy’s advance, as you yield your sword, which is the word of God. And the Holy Spirit your helper, teaches you to pray, preparing you to move forward victorious each day.

There’s an army standing beside you. So much greater than the enemy against you. People are praying, standing in the gap saying, the things of God to help you pull through, prophetically inspired. Some don’t even know you. Empowered by God and the love that he has for you.
